FAQ
Finding a therapist who really gets you is a big deal—and it’s totally okay if the process feels a little overwhelming, especially if this is your first time or if you’ve had less-than-great experiences before.
The truth is, therapy works best when you feel comfortable with your therapist. You deserve someone who feels like a good fit—someone you can connect with and trust to walk alongside you.
It’s more than okay to be picky. In fact, it’s encouraged. You can talk to a few therapists before deciding who feels right. You can ask questions, share what you’re looking for, and even change your mind later on. And if something’s not working in therapy, you’re absolutely allowed to speak up or ask for something different.
You’re the expert on what you need—this process is yours.
Think of it as a conversation, not a deep dive into your soul (unless you want that). We’ll talk about what’s bringing you in, what you’re hoping for, and anything you’re feeling unsure about. You don’t have to have it all figured out—we’ll figure it out together.
Oh, 100%. Feeling nervous just means this matters to you. New things are uncomfortable—even good ones. You’re not alone in that, and we can talk about the nerves too. It’s all welcome here.
The reality is, it takes a couple of sessions to know. Therapy is personal, and not every therapist is the right fit for every person. I encourage people to feel it out—ask questions, trust your gut, and don’t be afraid to be a little picky. You deserve a good match.
The truth is, not every approach works for everyone—and that’s completely okay. What matters most is that you find someone you feel safe with and supported by. If you’re not sure yet, we can figure that out together.
That’s more than okay. Some things are just… not ready yet. You won’t be pushed to talk about anything before you’re ready. And if you’re nervous about opening up, you can say that too—we’ll talk about the talking, if that’s what you need.
Both! I see clients in-person in Wilmington, NC, and I also offer virtual therapy for anyone located in North Carolina. Zoom pants welcome.
Sessions are 50 minutes. Frequency of sessions depends on your individual needs.
I work with folks navigating:
-
Parenting + co-parenting
-
Big life transitions (career changes, identity shifts, major moves)
-
Relationship stuff (the messy kind, the growing kind, all of it)
-
And I offer therapy for therapists—because we need a space too
You might be wondering this because you’re struggling right now and want relief yesterday. That’s totally understandable.
Here’s the thing: most people start feeling some positive shifts after just a few sessions—more calm, a bit more hopeful, and a sense that change is possible.
The full timeline of therapy really depends on what you’re working through. Some clients feel supported and see progress in less than a year, while others choose to stay longer to dive deeper into things that have been holding them back.
We’ll figure out the pace together. You’ll never be stuck in therapy longer than it feels right for you.
Please see the Insurance & Investment page
Note: If you are insured with Medicaid, due to state laws, you must see a Medicaid provider or risk losing your insurance coverage. I am not a Medicaid provider and cannot accept private pay from Medicaid clients. I’m very sorry for the inconvenience.
I see clients Monday through Friday, 9am to 2pm. I occasionally have limited off-hours appointments available, but those tend to be pretty sporadic. If you need something outside of my usual hours, feel free to ask—I’ll let you know what’s possible.
Easy—just send me a message through the contact form, email me, or give me a call. I offer a free 15-minute consultation so we can see if we vibe before committing to a full session.
